Switzerland Trip - April 2009

In April of 2009 Charity and I took a trip to Switzerland. She has an aunt that lives there that owns a lot of Siberian Huskies. So we stayed with her aunt an uncle and ate a lot of cheese. It just so happens that I am a fan of stinky cheese and there was plenty to go around. It also happens that Charity is a fan of chocolate, so it seemed like a good place to go on vacation for the both of us.

Switzerland is a historic country with a rich cultural heritage. Its country code is CH which stands for its Latin name "Confoederatio Helvetica" Which translated means "Helvetica Confederation" Why you ask? Well, they love the font Helvetica so much they named their country after it. And boy does it show!

Switzerland Loves Helvetica
They use the font on EVERYTHING!

Also with four (4, count 'em) official languages, they only thing they could all agree on was the Latin version of their name.

You may know that they remained neutral during WWII. But don't confuse neutrality with wimpiness. Going to the museums, I was actually quite surprised how well armed and prepared for war they were. They had all sorts of hidden bases, every house was practically a bunker and in 30 minutes they could detonate every bridge and road into the country. And they kept their cheese fresh!
